Empty is Rarely Good (June Photos, Day 2)

The news from Philadelphia today is not good.  Pop has developed pneumonia and is not expected to survive.  My husband will be flying home tomorrow morning, before the crack of dawn.  It is one downside of living in a something less than a major metropolitan area—a definite shortage of air traffic as the day winds down.  By the time we knew he needed to head home, it was approximately 15 minutes before the last flight out to Philly.  Since we’re about 45 minutes from the airport, that obviously wasn’t going to work.   Anyway, I feel empty, and sad for my husband.  There’s nothing I can do for him to make him feel better, except love him, and agree with him every time he says, “it isn’t fair”.  And he’s right; it isn’t fair.

Of course, I am still hoping and praying that Pop defies the odds and recovers fully, but, barring that, my hope is that Brian makes it home in time to see his father.  I don’t even want to think about how empty he will feel otherwise.

Compared to that, the photo challenge seems inconsequential, but I will post it, because I think it’s important to try and continue on with the normal things, even when other, more important, things are not normal at all.  But, not to worry about the empty item here; I’ve already restocked the Ding Dong supply.  If only everything could be so easy.

    1. Thank you. Things are looking slightly more promising now, so we are not giving up.
