Snapshot Sunday #9

 

I’m running a little behind this week, which means today’s Snapshot Sunday is really more like a Montage Monday, but pretend with me, won’t you?  Anyway, this week’s photo challenge pictures will wrap up the September challenge, and get us started into October, so let’s see what’s in store.

 

  Prompt:  Frame.  I mentioned once before that one of the few things I actually stockpile around my house is picture frames.  This is a few of the ones just waiting for a picture.  (This is the missing pic from last week.)

 

 

 

 

 

  Prompt:  You, Then.  The final September entry.  I’m not sure, but I’d guess this is maybe 8th grade.  That is a stylish collar, right?

 

 

 

 

 

 

  Prompt:  Where You Stood.  To be truthful, I’m not sure what body of water this is, but it’s in Branson, MO.  I think Table Rock Lake, but I just wanted to go see the water, so I didn’t pay that much attention to the signage of where we actually ended up.  We were right next to the dam, so I suppose we could’ve been on the river side of things (especially given that there’s a river boat out in the distance of this picture!), but I sort of think it was the lake.

 

  Prompt:  Lunchtime.  There is no meal that’s wrong for cereal, as far as I’m concerned, and if it’s Frosted Flakes, better yet.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  Prompt:  This Happened Today.  I made dinner!  What with Granny being sick and then me being out of town, I’m pretty sure it had been two full weeks since I’d cooked.  And, truthfully, I think we might’ve had pork chops back then, too, but it was long enough ago nobody could remember.  Brian was just glad to have some home cooking!

 

 

 

 

  Prompt:  What You Read.  The bylaws of the Rose State College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.  I joined up for a little social and networking interaction at school.  They needed officers, so I am now the PR/Media go-to person.

 

 

 

 

 

  Prompt:  Shadow.  I usually turn on lights in every room I enter as I’m walking through the house, including the hallway.  Now you can see why: pretty creepy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  Prompt:  I’m Thankful For . . .  Brian.  For a lot of reasons, but today marked the second weekend he’d been over at Granny’s house taking care of some chores, even though I couldn’t be there.  Today it was mowing the lawn; last week it was repairing some plumbing.  I’m grateful he is both able and willing to do those things for her.

 

 

 

There wasn’t much going on this past week, mostly just getting back into the swing of things after last weekends getaway.  I don’t think I took a single picture except for the daily photo prompts.  But I do have a few pics from my weekend in Branson.

                                    
The first stop (after our hotel) was the Sight and Sound Theatre, where we were seeing a production of Joseph.  When Kim found the show, she originally thought it was actually Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which is why she wanted this to be my birthday present, since we’re both fans, after seeing a college production way back in the day.  We realized a day or two before we left that it was really a completely original telling of the story, but who’s going to complain about an evening of musical theater anyway?  We both agreed that the composer and lyricist of this show are no Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, but there were live animals which was neat.  Except for the rat; Kim wasn’t too thrilled with the idea of a rat being even a little bit loose in the same room as she was.

We stopped at a scenic overlook and I snapped a few pictures of the countryside. Our hotel and the Joseph theater are both in this photo, way off in the distance. 

 

  One day we saw a few of these things flying through the air.  I don’t know what they’re called, and I’d never want to ride one, but it was kind of cool.

In the totally random department, we saw this giant bust of President Kennedy next to a gas station.  Later, we saw one of President Reagan, too, next to a gift shop, if I recall.  When I got home, I tried to find out what the significance is, but I didn’t find an answer.  Although there is also apparently a Roosevelt somewhere that we didn’t run across.

And, one of my favorite stops, we visited the Butterfly Palace, and saw lots of gorgeous butterflies. 

                             

       

   When she was getting dressed that morning, Kim laughingly said the butterflies would like that she was all bright and colorful like a flower; little did she know how right she’d be.  Those white ones really liked her shirt.  As you may can tell from the expression, however, she was not as thrilled with them as they were with her.

 

 

Even as long as Kim and I have been friends, I bet there are fewer than a dozen photos of us together, mainly because neither of us are all that thrilled with having our pictures taken.  I told her I one of my goals for the weekend was to remedy that situation.  Sadly, except for maybe a goofy phone pic or two, this is the only one we got.  But it’s a start.

 

  Oh, I almost forgot about this one, though I don’t think it counts.  At the butterfly place, there was a mirror maze, which took us longer to get out of than you’d think it would.  It amused me, Kim not so much.  But I did snap a pic of us in the murky darkness.

We went to a shopping center that was on a river—White River, I think.  You know I had to take at least a couple of pics there, too, including this one.

We had a really fun time in Branson, and I’m already ready for another girls getaway!

Snapshot Sunday #8

 

Welcome to another Sunday.  I’m sort of sad that it’s here, because that means my vacation has drawn to a close.  Kim and I will be heading home tomorrow, though we may take a bit of time to make another couple of short stops before leaving Branson.

But, before all of that, it’s time to get to this week’s Snapshot Sunday.  I’ve taken a bunch of pictures this weekend, but I haven’t reviewed any of them, so this week’s installment will be only the daily pictures from Chantelle’s Photo a Day challenge.  Also, tomorrow begins the month of October, so if you want to play along, check out the challenge over at Fat Mum Slim. 

 

  Prompt:  Before bedtime.  One of the very last things I usually do before bed is publish my daily blog post.

 

 

 

  Prompt:  3 things.  Three of my kittens having breakfast.  Cuties.

                                                                  my other computer, because I don’t have it here with me at the hotel.  Bummer.

 

 

  Prompt:  Near.  As near as possible to a butterfly. 

 

 

 

 

  Prompt:  Love/Hate.  Using the rain for today’s subject matter.  We’ve been pretty dry this year, so I love that we’re starting to get some more rain, but I hate it when I have to be out and about in it, like I was that day.

 

 

 

 

  Prompt:  A Good Thing.  This is Kim’s guest room.  It used to be her son’s (Nathan) room, before he tragically passed away five years ago.  Nathan adored Christmas and Santa, and had his room decorated in a holiday motif.  When she recently remodeled it, she left one part of the holiday border that had been there with Nathan, and I think that’s a very good thing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  Prompt:  Errand.  Um, this is vacation, so there were no errands in the normal sense to be accomplished today.  Kim and I spent a great deal of the day at an outlet mall, so the closest we got to running an errand was finding ourselves a cold drink to take a break from the hard work of shopping.

And that’s (most of) this past week’s daily photos.  Next Sunday will wrap up September and take us through the first few days of October, and likely have some of the photos from our Branson getaway.

Snapshot Sunday #8

 

I have to admit, I was this close to just going to bed without posting tonight.  It’s been kind of a long day, and I haven’t gotten nearly everything done that needed to be done.  (Primarily, a boatload of reading that simply must be completed before I head off to class Thursday afternoon.) 

I spent a few hours this afternoon/evening dealing with my granny, another trip to the ER, and then getting her settled back at home again.  Thankfully, she is back home again, which means she’s much better than she was when the ambulance carted her off to the hospital, but it’s still pretty draining.

Still, I’ve been posting every day now for about four months or so, and likely going to participate in another challenge next month, so I sort of hate to break the streak now.  So, being the end of the weekend, let’s get the Snapshot Sunday started, shall we?

  Prompt:  Strange.   This little frog is clinging to the outside of my living room window.  They do it a lot.  Most people don’t think it’s as strange as I do, but it sort of creeps me out, seeing their slimy little underbellies, and their tiny fingers (or whatever they’re called) suctioned to my window.  Outside on my lawn, they’re cute; hanging on my window, they’re strange.

 

 

 

 

 

  Prompt:  In My Fridge.  Probably not a lot different than most folks’ fridges, eh?

 

 

  Prompt:  Price.  The price for the iced tea I grab on my way to class each day.

 

 

 

  Prompt:  Underneath.  The shade underneath my table umbrella.

 

 

  Prompt:  Man Made.  Man made, and now, apparently, man repaired. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   Prompt:  Sometimes.  Some “normal” pumpkins, and some ornamental ones.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   Prompt:  Up.  One of the rides at the fair, up in the air and upside down.  Brian thought it looked cool.  Me, I don’t ride rides, and certainly not ones that leave me hanging upside down a couple of stories in the air.  I did offer to wait patiently while he rode, but he declined.

As I mentioned Friday, my son celebrated his 21st birthday this week.  It’s been a long time since he enjoyed having his picture taken, but he let me snap a couple in honor of the occasion.  (Oh, and that’s his new birthday present he’s playing with there; he’s not just ignoring me!)

Snapshot Sunday #7

 

Happy Sunday (actually, most certainly Monday by the time I hit publish) to you all.  It’s been kind of a busy week, starting with football last weekend.  Then the week days were filled with quite a bit of school work and chores/errands, followed by a brief trip to the state fair on Friday night to see Air Supply in concert, and then yesterday, a trip to a local casino with my sister, Tanya, to see a Hall & Oates show.  Fun times all around.

But, Sunday means it’s time for another photo roundup, so let’s get started on that, shall we?  As always, I’ll start with the daily photo challenge pictures, with prompts provided by Chantelle over at Fat Mum Slim.

 

  Prompt: Something you do most weekends.  Every weekend of late—and almost certainly every weekend for quite a while to come—involves homework.

 

 

 

  Prompt:  Black and white.  Not much to say about this one; it’s my yard, and I liked the ray of sun peeking through the trees.

 

 

 

 

  Prompt:  Hero.  A bit of a cheat, since I don’t think I even took this picture, and certainly not recently.  But, my mom was my hero my whole life, so who else was I going to use?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  Prompt:  Together.  I roll my socks together; how about you?

 

 

 

 

 

  Prompt:  Table.  Looking at the table in front of mine at school.  Truth be told, I don’t like this picture.  My plan had been to use the library table while we were working together on a group project, but the work wasn’t going exactly according to plan, which made the photo completely slip my mind.  So, next class was the next best thing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

   Prompt:  Favorite.  These cinnamon rolls are my very favorite fair food.  They are big, gooey, and absolutely delicious.  And, you can watch them make them in that window right up front. (But don’t do that if you’re trying to kid yourself about the calories in the things; hard to ignore the multiple sticks of butter and immeasurable sugar in each batch!)

 

 

  Prompt:  First thing you see.  Maybe this was supposed to be the first thing you see in the morning, but it didn’t say so.  And, besides, I didn’t look at the prompt list until later in the day.  But this is the first thing you see when you sit down to wait for Hall & Oates to perform.
